Large 19th Century Flemish Carved Oak Cabinet

Description

Sh carved oak cabinet circa 1870.

Profusely carved cupboard of grand proportions in the baroque revival taste.  comprising of 2 sections.

Understated cornice decorated with egg and dart carving with further carved panels below.  small double door cupboard containing a single shelf. Carvings on these doors appear to show dogs apprehending people.  doors flanked either side by carved cherubs and shells.  open storage aperture supported by 3 carved supports.

Bottom section with brushing slide and 2 drawers below.  large double door cupboard containing a further shelf.  door fronts decorated by carved scenes of folklore stories.  flanked either side by columns and standing on a shaped plinth base.

Transport labels from germany and sweden on the reverse.  deep dark colour with flashes of the natural oak coming through.

Expected minor surface marks with age.
