Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chippendale Revival refers to 19th and early 20th-century furniture crafted in the manner of 18th-century designer Thomas Chippendale. Common features include dark woods like mahogany, elaborate carved foliage, pierced back splats, and cabriole legs with claw-and-ball feet.

These chairs were primarily constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, using traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Back splats were intricately carved and pierced by hand or scroll saw, complemented by woven or fabric-upholstered drop-in seats.

Revival pieces from the late Victorian or Edwardian eras often feature modern machine tooling marks, uniform symmetry, circular saw marks underneath, and slightly heavier proportions compared to the hand-carved subtle irregularities of 18th-century originals.

These chairs can be paired with modern timber or glass dining tables to create a curated, eclectic aesthetic. They also function well as standalone accent seating in entry halls, bedrooms, or alongside a writing desk.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the timber finish. Avoid silicone-based sprays and keep timber seating away from direct heat sources to prevent wood movement.
