Pair of late C19th French ormolu-mounted marble reversible cassolettes in the C18th Louis XVI style.

Smart pair of lidded white marble cassolettes of neo-classical athenienne design, reversing to form candlesticks. Well-cast gilt ormolu bronze mounts , tripod supports with stylised cloven-hoof ‘pieds de biche’ feet , onto circular plinth bases with applied beaded ring decoration.

The ovoid tapering bodies with ormolu swags and wreath ring mounts, and berry finial drops below . The dome-top reversible lids with corresponding cast berry finials .

A stylish and quality pair of cassolettes in excellent original condition with no damage or losses . The ormolu mounts with a softly aged patina .
