Here are five superb handblown cut glass and engraved drinking cups by renowned German metalworkers WMF, each in a beautiful silver plated cradle. These are intended for tea or coffee, but would make excellent cups for cocktails, Pimms or Punch!
Each glass has a band of engraved butterflies around the top, with cut glass bodies and decorative spots to their wings. The silver cradles have wonderful sweeping lines, and are pure art nouveau in their design.
On the underside, each cup is stamped with the running ostrich mark and name of WMF in a striped lozenge, with the letter G, dating the cups to between 1903 - 1910.
As I hope the photographs show, all five cups are in lovely condition, with the minimum surface wear that might be expected from items of this age - they have clearly been well loved and cared for. There are some microscopic flea bites to the rim of two cups, but these have to be really searched for - I have included two photographs so that you might see clearly, b
...ut they are incredibly small, and I have reflected this in the price. (Please be aware that these photos are enlarged)
Each cup stands 10cm high, is 7cm wide, and is 10cm across the cup to the edge of the handle.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if I can provide any further information or photographs.
