Royal Vienna style porcelain refers to fine ceramics produced by or inspired by the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory in Vienna, active from 1718 to 1864, as well as historicist pieces produced in late 19th-century Europe. These items are characterised by central hand-painted portraits or mythological vignettes framed by ornate raised gilding and rich coloured borders.

Cabinet plates were crafted from hard-paste porcelain, painted using finely ground ceramic enamels, and layered with liquid gold or gold leaf gilding. Artisans applied raised paste gilding and performed multiple kiln firings to fuse the colours and metallic details permanently to the glaze.

Authentic and era-appropriate Royal Vienna style ceramics frequently feature the blue underglaze or overglaze shield mark, often called the beehive mark, along with artist signatures within the artwork.
