Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the mid-18th century during the reign of King George II, lowboys were designed as versatile low tables containing drawers. Often utilized as dressing tables or side tables, they reflected the British preference for dense, imported West Indian mahogany and streamlined classicism.

These tables were primarily built using solid Cuban mahogany, favoured for its dark hue and fine grain. Construction typically features hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, oak secondary timbers, hand-cast brass hardware, and slender cabriole legs.

Authentic period pieces exhibit signs of hand-craftsmanship, such as irregular dovetail joints, tool marks on unexposed drawer bases, natural timber shrinkage over time, and original brass fixings with historical patination.

A Georgian lowboy functions as a hallway console, a bedside companion, or an occasional side table beside living room seating. Its refined proportions allow it to contrast effectively against modern art and neutral wall finishes.

Preserve the finish by dusting with a soft cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent timber movement and finish degradation.
