Victorian Silver Wine Jug 'vine & Grape' Decoration London 1858

Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A Charming Victorian silver jug, possibly used for wine.   The shape is most pleasing with a baluster centre and stands on a very pretty silver foot.  The repousse decoration is stunning,  featuring vine leaves and grapes with an empty cartouche sitting directly underneath the pouring lip. The handle is ornate and perfectly compliments the style. Clear hallmarks are visible underneath for the London Assay office with a date mark for 1858, Lion Passant indicating fine sterling silver and maker''s mark: Edward & John Barnard.
