Magnificent Bee Topped Inkwell on Cast Wedding Ring Base C.1880

Description

A wonderful antique English inkstand dating to the Victorian era, featuring a large figural bumble bee on the top. The body and head of the bee are made from polished agate and the tiny sparkly eyes, made from two red garnets.

The inkstand is beautiful quality with a thick heavy cast wedding ring gallery. The inkwell is clearly original to the stand with the cut hobnail base being impressed into the original velvet lining.

An exceptional and rare piece in excellent condition (one tiny ding to inkwell top). 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" x standing 5" tall including acanthus leaf feet.
