Three Tier Campaign Side Table C.1880

19th century
Description

Late 19th.c. military three tier campaign wash stand or side table c.1880. Three mahogany shelves, the upper most fitted with a beautifully figured flame mahogany panel at the centre (probably originally an open hole to take a wash bowl) and with low curving galleries to the back edge of the top two shelves. Supported on brass columns with neat brass finials and feet. Designed to be used by military officers on campaign it would have been demountable, though one of the columns appears to have been soldered and will no longer unscrew at the level of the middle shelf. Otherwise excellent colour and condition. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
