Rare Large Minton Porcelain Figure Persia Model 144 C.1848

£785    $1,029    €938
A fabulous large and very rare Minton porcelain figure of ''Persia'' c.1848. Superb modelling and decoration as always with Minton, an Eastern lady finely dressed in exotic robes and jewels standing beside marble column over which she has draped her cloak and rests a water vase. Rich enamels and gilding and some very delicate porcelain lacework along the hem of her dress and as a necklace and earrings. Model number 144 in the Minton pattern book. Green ermine mark painted to the base.

Reference: this is the actual example illustrated in ''Minton Pottery & Porcelain Of The First Period'' by Godden, colour plate XII, provenance The Godden Collection, Godden Of Worthing Ltd.

She measures 27.2cm (10 3/4'') high and 15.5cm (6 1/8) by 12.2cm (4 7/8'') across the base.

In excellent condition: She has suffered a small loss to her left thumb hidden behind the vase handle. No other damage, repair or restoration to the figure itself. The delicate lacework always has some damage understandably but a very high proportion remains. Minimal handling wear.
