Antique Victorian 18ct Gold Garnet Cabochon Necklace - C.1840

We are delighted to offer this magnificent 18ct gold garnet necklace made in the early Victorian period c.1840.

The necklace is made from high-carat gold (18K+ tested) and presents an exceptional ornate and regal design featuring multiple layers of scrolls, floral and foliate motifs and a two-tier lavalier design.

Disintighishing itself from contemporary pieces the workmanship of the fine gold setting in combination with the two garnet cabochons is an absolute delight to see in person; a conversation starter and a gorgeous piece to wear.

Owing to the round cabochons, the necklace is especially stunning under natural sunlight whereby the charm of the two slightly different hues of the garnets become apparent. The top garnet is of a slightly more orange tone whereas the bottom one is slightly pink.

Furthermore, the curvature of the gem's surface creates wonderful reflections even in low lighting such as at late-night events, parties or even candlelight.

Overall, this necklace presents an array of highly desirable traits that make for an excellent piece to make a distinguished and impressionable statement. Ideal with one-pieces, blouses or even in the winter on top of a turtleneck, a piece for the discerning and distinctly classic jewellery lover.

The pendant is unmarked as is common with pieces of the period however we have tested it for 18K+ high-carat gold. The necklace is a later addition and tests as 9ct gold.

Condition: Great antique condition with no issues/damage. Some very minor surface scratches to the stones and slight tone changes/discolouration to the gold on the reverse side due to its antique age.
