A fine hand coloured sporting copper engraving from the time of the English Regency titled ‘Morning of the first of September’.
It depicts a gentleman on horseback, carrying a flintlock musket, setting out for a mornings sport accompanied by his two pointer dogs.
It is the first of September, the first day of the partridge shooting season.
A good and clear impression on a wove paper with beautiful hand colouring within a Hogarth frame with gilt slip.
Both engraving and frame are in first class condition.
Engraved by John Scott (1774–1827) after a work by the English painter and draughtsman Abraham Cooper (1787-1868) and published in Regency London in 1815.
