Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco paste jewellery refers to decorative items produced during the 1920s and 1930s that feature high-lead content cut glass stones designed to simulate diamonds and other precious gems. These pieces often feature geometric silhouettes, fine collet or bezel settings, and silver mounts characteristic of the period.

Antique paste necklaces were crafted using dense, high-refractive glass containing lead oxide, known as paste or strass. The stones were individually hand-cut and mounted into sterling silver, silver-gilt, or base metal settings, frequently backed with metallic foil to enhance sparkle.

Authentic period pieces typically feature open or closed collet settings, hand-cut stone facets with soft wear edges, and silver hallmarks or maker marks on clasps. The metal links, bolt rings, and stone mountings show hand-finished construction rather than modern mass-moulded techniques.

A drop or Y-silhouette paste necklace works well when paired with high-neck or v-neck eveningwear, serving as a focal accessory. It can also be worn alongside contemporary, delicate silver chains to blend vintage and modern aesthetic elements.

Paste jewellery should never be submerged in water or cleaned with harsh liquid chemicals, as moisture can damage any underlying foil backing or cause silver oxidisation inside the mounts. Wipe gently using a dry, soft lint-free cloth and store in a dry location.
