Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Castle top card cases are Victorian silver visiting card holders featuring relief representations or engravings of famous buildings, monuments, or landmarks. Produced predominantly in Birmingham during the nineteenth century, these pieces depicted architectural sites such as St Pauls Cathedral, Windsor Castle, and the Houses of Parliament.

Victorian card cases were primarily constructed from sterling silver, often hallmarked in silversmithing centres such as Birmingham or London. Crafting techniques combined die-stamping, hand engraving, and chasing to create detailed architectural scenes and decorative foliate borders.

Authenticity is verified by examining the official British hallmarking sequence stamped onto the interior rim or edge, including the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark, a date letter, and a makers mark. Pieces produced by silversmith Nathaniel Mills typically carry the NM makers mark alongside crisp architectural detailing.

Small antique silver accessories can be displayed flat or on a small acrylic stand inside a glass vitrine, on a bookshelf, or atop a study desk. Placing polished silver objects against dark wood or stone surfaces creates an effective visual contrast.

Maintain silver card cases by wiping them periodically with a dry, soft cotton or microfibre cloth to remove fingerprints. To remove tarnish, apply a specialised silver polishing cloth or a non-abrasive silver foam, avoiding harsh liquid dips that can strip dark oxidisation from recessed engraved lines.
