The 'S' symbols in the top two sections of the field are stylised 'dragons' for protection with very powerful zoomorphic symbols in between and then the same powerful symbols highlighted in the centre. I like the stylised peacocks in the lower part of the field with the depiction of small birds surrounding them, which might in fact be young in the nest! The main border, which is in stunning sky-blue, has wonderful 'abrash' or striation of natural colour throughout, and containing stylised flower-heads.
This is a very unusual and rare little rug with a story to tell - if it could only speak!!
