Description

Very elegant George III oak dresser base with some unusually refined details c.1800. Two plank top with a mahogany crossbanded edge and unusual 'caddy top' moulding (whereby the moulding finishes flush with the sides rather than overhanging as is more common). Three good sized drawers, the fronts with cockbeaded and mahogany crossbanded edges and retaining the original brass swan neck handles. Note the inlaid mahogany panels with boxwood and ebony strung borders either side of the drawers and the mahogany crossbanded bottom edge to the apron, continuing across the legs and sides. Raised on tapering square legs, also with inlaid ebony stringing to the front and spade block feet. Oak drawer sides. Some old marks to the top, otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
