These splendid Victorian earrings pack a lot in to a small space - fluted star tops anchor the posts above a pleasing puffy heart with beaded and rope twist edging, adorned with textured medallions and engraved fleur-de-lis motifs. Formed in two pieces, they have a lovely sense of movement and the light reflects beautifully off the many different surfaces.• Condition: Excellent antique condition.• Fixing: Posts and nine-carat gold butterflies.• Hallmarks/stamps: Each earring is stamped on the back with the kitemark used by the British Design Registry which enables us to date the earrings quite precisely. The stamp shows this design was registered on 28 January 1879 and as the mark was discontinued five years later we know they must have been made between 1879 and 1884.
