The painting is very much in the manner of the famous British artist Thomas Smythe (1825-1906).
It is signed lower right corner ''T. Smythe'', and, although the signature looks to be the same as the artist Thomas Smythe's signature, we do not have any concrete provenance to confirm it is the same Thomas Smythe.
