Antique Pine Longcase Clock

18th century
Description

An interesting Oxfordshire 'cottage' Quaker made pine longcase clock. A slim, well proportioned case with a flat moulded hood pediment. Hood columns with wooden capitals. A small 10" brass and silvered dial with corner spandrels and Quaker centre dial decorations. Blued steel hands. A quality 'birdcage' mechanism of 30 hour duration striking the hours on a bell.

William Green of Milton-Under-Wychwood is recorded in Loomes' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working circa 1770.
