N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The paintwork then matches the quality of the casting and is applied using the traditional cold painted method. The piece is then signed to the underside with the "B: mark to show that it was made by the famous Franz Xaver Bergman (1861-1936) and is believed to be one of his earlier pieces due to its size, detail, and quality. A truly magnificent example of a cold painted bronze that are very hard to find especially in such excellent condition.

Would make an excellent addition to any home or collection.
