ANTIQUE #SA979691

attributed To Dr. Christopher Dresser (1834-1904), A Pair Of Andirons For The Carron Foundry, Falkirk 1870s

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Jeckyll & Co

Stylish and accesible, as Dresser intended.

I haven''t seen this model before, perhaps it''s quite rare. Christopher Dresser produced a series of designs for the Carron Foundry in the late 1870s, each given a number. This pair of andirons is stamped No.1, but not marked Carron, so I''ve included images of a related example, No.2, (not included in the sale) which is.

The crescent flowerhead appears on both examples in slightly different ways. The pierced crescent is also used (the other way around) in a stick stand produced by the Falkirk Foundry around the same period, Lorfords Antiques currently hold an example in their stock.

Well presented condition.
