N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This lovely antique double fusee mantel clock has an oak case with a lovely rich colour and grain. The top of the case is then shaped with lovely scollwork to the front followed by a shaped moulding. There is then a further scrollwork section followed by a further moulding.
There is then a further moulding to the bottom leading to a scrollwork section to the middle of the front. The base is then shaped and stepped out to the side to create the feet.
The dial is then silvered with a silvered chapter ring set out in black Roman numerals with a thing ring to the outside marking the minutes. There are then two subsidiary dial to the top, one to regulate, and one to adjust the clock to either "CHIME" or "SILENT". Finally the dial is finished by two lovely shaped hands as well as a protective, bevelled glass set into a brass bezel.
The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is a double chain fusee example of the upmost quality. The clock ticks away as it should and comes complete with its pendulum and winding key. The clock then chimes one ting tang on the quarter past, two on the half past, three on the quarter to, and the number of hours on the hour via two gongs.
It measures approximately:
19" / 38cm Tall.
12.25" / 31cm Wide.
9" / 23cm Deep.
