N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Below the cherub is then a shaped section leading to the main "hour glass" shaped body of the case. The front of the body then has a lovely flying cherub mount to the bottom, ormolu mounts to the top, and glass viewing windows to the sides. The whole case is then intricately inlaid with brass boulle work as well as an array of different coloured semi precious stones. Finally the case is finished by four ormolu feet shaped with dragons heads to the top.
The dial is then brass and set out in enamel Roman numerals which are painted in blue. The outside of the dial then has a ring marking the minutes as well as then centre being shaped with a beautiful pattern. The dial is then signed to the bottom by the maker "ROBIN A PARIS". finally the dial is finished by two lovely shaped hands as well as a protective glass set into the door.
The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is ticking away as it should and comes complete with its regulating pendulum and winding key. The clock then strikes both the number of hours on the hour as well as once on the half past. Finall, like the dial, the movement is signed by the maker "ROBIN A PARIS".
