Japanese Silver And Shibuichi Lidded Box - Sato Kazuhide

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this heavy gauge and fine quality Meiji Period 1868-1912, pure silver and mixed metal lidded box artist signed by the highly regarded Sato Kazuhide, on this occasion on commission for the Hattori company. The delightful heavy silver box stands upon a shaped bracket foot, the finely worked lid is formed from shibuichi and other precious alloys including silver and gold, the artist has captured the most enchanting pose of an egret gazing at the moonlit sky whilst stood upon the branch of a willow tree, the bird itself formed from pure silver with contrasting gilt eyes, beak and shakudo legs, the lid is finely engraved with the artist signature above a gilt seal, the underside of this heavy quality box stamped with the pure silver mark alongside the Hattori seal, a very fine quality example of mixed metal work from a well recorded artist.
