An Anglo-Japanese Lamp Table in the style of E.W Godwin, English 1870s
Ebonised hardwood and pine with gilt highlights.
The pierced undertier is distinctive, considered variously as a sunburst or stylised flowerhead. Godwin used the device of several occasions and Susan Soro''s notes in her work ''The Secular Furniture of E.W Godwin'', ''pierced chrysamthemums are some of his (sic) best Anglo-Japanese features''.
Condition: Structurally sound. The top was originally upholstered in either baize or velvet. This could be easily be re-instated if desired.
