Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
Made from the highly decorative Burl Ash / Hungarian Ash / Silky Australian Oak (all sorts of names are used to describe this highly decorative wavy timber, most unusual as these boxes were usually made from Walnut, making this one stand out from the crowd.
The lid opens to reveal a fully fitted jewellery compartment lined in silk and velvet, incorporating a central compartment for a pocket watch, perfect today for a wristwatch or bracelet. The interior of the lid is beautifully tufted in silk.

All the brass fittings have been professionally repolished to gleam with the carrying handle being lucky enough to have been stamped with the design registration number, 62264 which dates this piece to 1886, Victorian in era.

The doors are fitted with thick bevelled glass with three drawers behind again lined with rich blue silk. A real gem, in excellent condition (minor wear commensurate with age) and complete with working key, measuring 9" x 7" x 8 1/2" tall.
