Description

A fine and elegant George III period inlaid mahogany secretaire bookcase. Of good proportions and excellent construction. Embellished with inlaid stringing and banding in boxwood and ebony throughout and with bone escutcheons. The top section with a pair of glazed doors (lockable, key supplied) which open to access an interior with adjustable shelving. Surmounted by a swan neck broken-arch pediment complete with inlaid detailing, greek key dentil work and drop pendants. The base section with two drawers fitted with brass swan-neck handles. The top drawer contains a fitted secretaire complete with pigeon holes and stationary drawers. All standing on elegant tapering legs which terminate in spade feet. Offered for sale in excellent condition, with a good mellow colour and lovely patina. Breaks down into 3 sections for ease of installation.
