But this is clearly a sight hound and the craftsmanship and detail in its manufacture is stunning.
The raised paw and turned head, the ears, the eyes… it’s truly a work of a talented sculptor/jeweller.
The muscle definition in the haunches and hocks.
Originally this piece was gilded as there are traces of gold still over the body, but I imagine that over the years this has worn off as it is such a tactile piece.
The collar even has a suspended ball/prey bell.
