Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The backplate is beautifully engraved whilst the movement itself retains its original anchor escapement. The good dial with its engraved and silvered chapter-ring, features “Strike/Silent” control in the arch; engraved & silvered date aperture above “VI” and the engraved maker’s signature below “XII” for “Michael W. Griffith of London”. Original ornate hands and fine cast spandrels.

This good George III Bracket Clock is not large: 18ins high with handle down; 10.5ins wide and maximum 7ins deep front-to-back. (45.5 x 26.5 x 18cms). It is in excellent condition, having been professionally cleaned; it is in perfect working order and is guaranteed for at least two years. Circa 1785-1790.
