Description

Oil on panel showing a winter landscape at sunset mounted in a gilt frame and signed by the German artist Emil Kuhlmann (1886 - 1957) and dated 1904.

Kuhlmann grew up in Linden (Hanover) and was a student of the School of Applied Arts Hanover. Kuhlmann attended (1895) the Munich academy with Carl Raupp, Franz von Stuck and Otto Seitz. He took study trips to Italy, Holland and France, and was a member of the National Association of Visual Artists of Germany, and the Munich artists' association. Kuhlmann was in the German Association of Artists Munich, and was active in Munich.
