Mounted Huntsman - Antique Pastel

Description

Framed and mounted pastel of a huntsman by the French artist Joseph Gilardoni (1882 - 1961) . The pastel is signed and there is a paper with the artists details on the rear. It is mounted in a simple cream frame, double mount and under glass. The painting dates from the first half of the 20th century.

Joseph Gilardoni exhibited regularly at colonial fairs in France at this time, notably at the "Colonial Exhibition of Bordeaux" in 1920. Like many artists of this period Gilardoni was known as part of "The French School of Indochina Travel Painters." He is well catalogues at auction.
