A Rare Antique Georgian Solid Silver Tazza Bowl with Cast Harvest Decorations - Charles Reily & George Storer 1835

18th century
Description

We are delighted to offer this spectacular Georgian solid silver tazza/bowl made by Charles Reily & George Storer in London, 1835.

Featuring an exceptionally intricate, ornate and symbolic theme, this tazza is exemplary of fine Georgian silver craftsmanship.

The tazza features a wonderful 'basketweave' style design with interlocking and looping sides, attached to a pedestal base and heavily embellished on top with harvest motifs.

The top wreath features cast-silver vine leaves and wheat; hand-chased and finely stippled, giving a very realistic, detailed and naturalistic design.

In addition to its opulent and eye-catching design which would most certainly grace and elevate interior decor, the tazza is also practical even in the modern day with many uses.

With some creativity, the tazza may be used as a fruit bowl, bread basket, for serving sweets etc. The naturalistic design also complements fine interiors with distinguished style and aesthetic flair; it may be particularly delightful when paired with other designs of nature's fine offerings, both in modern and classical decors.

Despite the basket's pierced/woven design, there is substantial weight when held in hand, which reflects the high-quality gauge of silver that is used by the silversmith to create this silver artwork.

A full set of English hallmarks are present on the base of the tazza.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
