Victorian Silver Antique Cream Jug, John Samuel Hunt 1856

Description

A beautiful melon shaped cream jug made by one of Londons best 19th century silversmiths. John Samuel Hunt made this in 1856 and it was assayed in London. Hunt was previously in partnership with Roskell and they had taken over the company of Storr Mortimer and Hunt which had Paul Storr as one of its owners. This jug is of a heavy quality and in excellent unrepaired condition. The hallmarks under the lip are crisp and there is original gilding inside. The silver has a wonderful patinated colour. A very collectable and useable piece of high quality silver.

WEIGHT; 108 grams or 3.5 ozst approx.
