Antique Bisque Porcelain Figurine, Stunning Quality, France,18 Th- 19th Century.

19th century
Description

Elegant antique porcelain figurine of a lady holding her cap in her hand, fashioned out of the finest bisque porcelain that was the mode at the end of the 18th or start of the 19th century. Painted in a naturalistic, matte style that preceded the rise of Impressionism in Western Europe.

The modelling technique and the details of the clothing appear to date this figurine to France, c.1790- 1820's.

Bisque porcelain is a type of unglazed porcelain that is characterized by its matte finish and its slightly rough texture. Bisque porcelain is usually white in color, but can also be found painted in beautiful tones and patinas like this piece here.

Bisque porcelain is a popular choice for making figurines, vases, and other decorative items because of its unique appearance. The matte finish of bisque porcelain gives it a rustic look, while the slightly rough texture adds a bit of charm.

Bisque porcelain is also a popular choice for making dinnerware and other functional items because it is very durable and chip-resistant. Bisque porcelain is dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe, making it a convenient choice for busy households.

If you're looking for a unique and charming way to add a touch of personality to your home, consider decorating with bisque porcelain. From vases and figurines to dinnerware and more, there are many ways to incorporate this beautiful material into your home décor.

Great condition, there has been some restorative work done to the waist of the figurine, around the middle of the figurine, restored in a very professional manner. Likewise on the wrist of the right hand. There are stains where the porcelain has yellowed with age by the folds of the dress, the literal stains of time! By all accounts this figurine was clearly expensive, and so was subject to professional restoration when it was damaged.
