Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Kashmiri turban box is a round container traditionally crafted in Northern India during the 19th century to store turbans, crowns, or formal headwear. These vessels were constructed from wood or papier-mache and decorated with vibrant lacquerwork and stamped metal mounts.

These boxes were constructed using native wood or compressed papier-mache, coated in layered red or dark lacquer pigments. Artisans applied stamped, repousse silvered brass or copper alloy mounts secured with small metallic pins.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of natural age including surface wear to the lacquer base, patination on the hand-stamped metal mounts, and hand-fitted internal joinery. The underside often reveals turned wood or original paint layers.

Position the box on a sideboard, console table, or bookshelf as an accent object with historical context. The geometric metalwork and rich red lacquer provide visual contrast when paired with contemporary furniture.

Dust the surface gently using a soft, dry lint-free cloth or a soft-bristled brush around the metal fittings. Avoid liquid cleaners, polish, and exposure to direct sunlight or moisture to prevent lacquer deterioration.
