Royal Worcester figure of ''Little Jack Horner''. One of six from the Nursery Rhyme Series modelled by the famous Freda Doughty.Jack is modelled and painted as a seated blonde haired boy wearing a green and yellow striped top with pale blue leggings and shoes with yellow pompoms. He holds a pie on his knees with his left hand and points to it with his right thumb, as if to ''pull out a plum''.The Poem:`Little Jack Horner sat in a corner eating his Christmas pie. He stuck in a thumb and pulled out a plum and said, ''What a good boy am I''.'' ... This poem is talking about the dissolution of the monasteries, Henry VIII taking property from the Catholic Church. The story behind this nursery rhyme is that �Jack� was actually Thomas Horner, a steward to the abbot of Glastonbury. The abbot sent Horner to London with a Christmas pie for King Henry VIII.
