Mike Melody Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
It has a cast iron block which is set into the bottom stand .i presume this was heated on a fire to a red hot temperature and then inserted.
We are dating as around 1840 but could be earlier. A very "dowton abbey" type country house piece .
An "british" take on a russian samovar
In.good original condition a few minor dents but no repairs.
It measures 41cms h 29cms w and 18cms deep.
