Description

This beautiful vintage, possibly antique bug ring in nine-carat gold is set with a real (dried) iridescent green beetle - commonly called an Egyptian scarab, but more accurately a leaf or tortoise beetle. These pieces are very often Victorian (into early 20th century), combining a massive revival of interest in all things Egyptian with the Victorians' love of jewellery containing real natural objects, such as insect and butterfly wings.

In excellent vintage/antique condition. We don't recommend this as an everyday ring, the beetle needs to be treated with care and kept away from water and impacts.

Marked 9CT.

Size: I (UK), approx 4.25 (US). We can stretch the ring up a couple of sizes at most if required but won't be able to drastically resize it. The scarab measures approximately 1.5 x 1cm and the ring sits around 8mm above the finger.
