A fine quality French ormolu and porcelain-mounted MANTEL CLOCK By Jean Baptiste Delettrez (active c.1845-c.1885) of Paris, in excellent condition and in full working-order.
The case is of finest ormolu, retaining its original gilding with a large pineapple pediment, and two subsidiary smaller pineapples to either side. Fine hand-painted porcelain panels to the front and sides, all of which are decorated in Sevres style ''bleu de celeste'' with musical and literary themes, cherubs to the front. Gilt spandrels and foliate engraving grace the front frame. Beautiful ormolu cast decoration to all sides and especially to the base. Raised on adjustable gilded circular conical feet
The eight-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell and is stamped with the makers monogram ''JBD''. Complete with pendulum. Serial number ''31811 16_2'' stamped on the movement.
