Natural baroque pearls, silver and uncut stones were considered preferable to precious gemstones and the art of enamelling was prized for its ability to let the maker express their creativity. Peacock motifs and colours, as here, were especially popular.

The back of the pendant has nice clear hallmarks (Chester 1909) and the letters CH. The clasp is marked STERLING.
The necklace is in excellent antique condition, although the middle triangle of enamel appears to have been replaced.

Size: The pendant measures 2.8 x 3.6cm; the necklace is approximately 43cm long, with a further 5.2cm for the drop at the front.
