Large Antique Anglo-indian Carved Elephant Mirror

1900 - 1920
Description

A Large and Imposing Antique Anglo-Indian Mirror. PAIR AVAILABLE. Provenance: Penninghame House, Penninghame Estate, Newton Stewart. Attractive carved exotic wood frame. The upper cornice shelf with detailed geometric and petal detail is supported by four hand carved elephant heads. To the lower sections there are eight candle sconces carved with stylised leaf and fruit. Pretty egg and dart detail compliment the lower frame section. The candles throw a lovely flickering glow over the mirror. Ideal as an overmantel, hall, bedroom, bathroom mirror but could also work well on a stairwell as a floor mirror or behind a bar with shelves on to hold bottles or glasses.
