Superb Georgian Silver Meat Skewer by Edward Aldridge I & Edward Aldridge II , London 1762

Description

This beautiful early George III solid silver meat skewer was made by Edward Aldridge I & Edward Aldridge II, also known as Edward Aldridge Junior and Senior. It has beautifully struck hallmarks and a very good silver gauge, it feels satisfyingly heave when picked up. The tapered silver blade with shell capped ring handle. It is a fabulous example and combines elegance with practicality. Georgian silver meat skewers make excellent letter openers.

EA over EA for Edward Aldridge I & Edward Aldridge II

London Assay Mark.

Date letter "G" for 1762.

Lion Passant.

Dimensions:

Length: 28cm / 11 inches.

Weight: 88g / 3.1 oz.

Condition:

Silver in very good condition.

Minor surface scratches, commensurate with age.
