Late C19th Regency style brass hexagonal hall lantern.

Decorative smaller-scale brass-framed lantern fitted with 6 bevelled-edge glass panels, the corners of the top surmounted with well-cast classical scallop-shell motifs. Decorative scroll-work frame above , rising to the ceiling ring fixing.

The whole having an aged patination.

* the use of shell motifs of this kind on objects and furniture, are classical references alluding to the birth of Aphrodite or Venus , goddess of love .
