Victorian Aesthetic Movement Oak Tilt-Top Table.

A very unusual tilt top table with Geometric influences.

We bring to you this superb example of a late Victorian solid Oak tilt top round table believed to be made around C1880. This almost flawless table has been cherished and is in fantastic condition with its French polished finish and lightly faded colour with lots of patina and charm.

The stunning and very unusual table features a solid Oak plank top above its striking hoop frieze which incorporates Ebonised Geometric inlays surrounding the top. The table stands on its substantial beautifully turned base going to a turned and carved centre boss which stands on proportionate beautifully shaped carved scroll cabriole legs with ebonised embellishments. Unusually and as a sign of quality this tilt top table has no movement or play in the mechanism as the table is being normally used, the solid Oak top is flat with no bowing or twisting and its original brass snap latch smoothly operates.

This table has a small overall form factor yet is versatile from having a round shaped top managing to comfortably accommodate 3-4 chairs and be used as a formal dining room, centre or breakfast table. Already not taking up too much room because of this shape, the top tilts upright for storage with its original quality brass latch.

We have sympathetically restored this item maintaining its original patina and carefully waxing this item to enhance the French polished surface and preserve it for many years to come.

Please note; Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents however, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character.
