French Mahogany Bonheur Du Jour

Description

A charming late 19th century mahogany bonheur du jour, or ladies desk. of excellent construction in solid mahogany with attractive book matched veneers. Embellished throughout with crisply carved ormolu mounts and brass banding. The superstructure with 2 pairs of stationary drawers and mirror backed compartments flanking a central glazed cabinet (lockable, key supplied). Fitted with a varigated rouge marble top completed with an open fret-work brass gallery. The table itself is of gentle bow-fronted form with a single drawer to the freeze (lockable, key supplied). With a pull-out writing surface fitted with its original red leather skiver , complete with gilt tooled decoration to the surrounds. All standing on elegant turned and fluted legs, terminating in exquisite ormolu feet. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops and now offered for sale in excellent condition, with a very good colour and patina. Splits into two sections for ease of installation.
