There is a drawer at the base and it stands on its original turned feet and castors. The interior has been relined. The top has a lovely needlework covering which appears to be original, this shows a few signs of wear, see photographs, but it is generally in remarkably good condition. Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian storage ottoman stool is an upholstered low seating furniture piece constructed with a hinged top that opens to reveal an interior compartment, popularised during the 19th century for dual utility and comfort.

These items were predominantly crafted from dense cabinet woods such as walnut or mahogany, decorated with fine timber marquetry or crossbanding, and fitted with woven fabric upholstery over horsehair padding.

Authentic pieces generally display period joinery such as hand-cut dovetails inside the frame, natural timber oxidisation underneath, original brass or ceramic castors, and hand-applied veneers.

An antique storage ottoman functions effectively positioned at the foot of a bed, as a low centrepiece coffee table topped with a decorative tray, or as additional seating in a living space.

Position the piece away from direct heat and sunlight to avoid timber shrinkage or veneer lifting, dust using a soft dry cloth, nourish the wood annually with natural beeswax, and gently vacuum the upholstery.
