Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Victorian diamond rings from around 1900 often feature old cut gemstones set into yellow gold bands with detailed shoulder work. This period transitioned between the ornate motifs of the nineteenth century and the cleaner geometric lines of the Edwardian era.

Victorian solitaire rings were predominantly crafted using yellow gold or rose gold paired with hand-cut diamonds, such as old mine cut or old European cut stones. Settings frequently incorporated claw or bezel arrangements to secure the central gemstone.

Old cut diamonds are identifiable by their hand-faceted proportions, including a high crown, small table, deep pavilion, and an open culet visible through the top of the stone. These characteristics contrast with the precise symmetry of modern brilliant cut diamonds.

A Victorian diamond solitaire ring can be worn as a standalone statement piece or stacked with modern, slim metal bands. Its classic profile allows it to pair seamlessly with contemporary fine jewellery styles.

Clean the ring gently using warm water, mild soap, and a soft-bristled brush to remove dust and debris. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners and inspect the setting regularly to ensure the gemstone prongs remain secure.
