I have various pieces from the last Spencer house sale, which is still owned by Lady Diana Spencer’s family, the history of the items is that Lord Rothschild in the 1980’s leased the property, at that time the house was restored, the pieces furnished the offices, meeting rooms and the newly restored State rooms. These chairs are made in the Louis XVI style, they are Napoleon III, the frames have all the original gilding which has beautifully aged and worn throughout to reveal the base plaster beneath which has a purplish tinge to it.
