Handsome late 19th.c. French walnut and marble top semainier chest of drawers c.1880. So called as it features seven drawers, supposedly one for each day of the week. Useful narrow dimensions, just 27" wide. Original grey marble top with canted front corners, sat within a moulded surround. Highly figured walnut veneers arranged in a symmetrical pattern across the front of the cabinet. With canted corners, raised mouldings and original inlaid brass escutcheons. Matched veneers at the sides and raised on a moulded plinth. Oak drawer linings. Small chip from the back edge of the marble. Otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
