Description

A superb large 17th Century Nuremburg wrought iron “Armada” chest on stand with studded strap work and retaining some of the original paintwork. The lid having a concealed sprung keyhole cover and opens to reveal the intricate locking mechanism with an ornamental chased and pierced cover of polished steel. The interior retaining the original paintwork and secondary safe with key. The front having 2 padlock hasps flanking a decorative dummy escutcheon, the sides with strong carrying handles and both original keys are present. The decorative bespoke handmade wrought iron stand is of 19th.C. manufacture and has brass casters. Condition- Very good, retaining plenty of the original paintwork with good patina, the floor without the usual rust and original keys with an old damaged padlock.
